The star has given the complete sum of his twenty-five thousand pound honor winnings to the MVT, which operates to protect the United Kingdom's grassroots music venues.

The star was presented with the award on mid-October as his new release his work was chosen as the best record of the past year.

Fender has opted to donate the funds to the Music Venues Trust, in appreciation of the essential function local spots played in his initial steps.

"I couldn't be pursuing this success if it hadn't been for all the shows I performed around the area, and elsewhere, when I was just getting going," stated Sam Fender. "These locations are iconic, but they are struggling."

From early 2023 onward, at least 150 of these locations have permanently closed – about 16 percent of the entire UK sector.

In the last year, major artists including the band Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the trust in its efforts to help venues survive, by adding a small levy to their admission fees, which supports local stages.

Sam Fender also participated, generating in excess of £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to help 38 local spots across England, Scotland, and Wales.

The donation assisted spaces that were confronting potential shutdown due to issues stemming from floods, blazes and bereavements, as well as regulatory hurdles, court cases and noise complaints.

Additional spaces were granted monetary aid in modernizing amenities and gear that directly benefitted performers and audiences.

"The notion that money from performances in major spaces helps the independent spots, where it kicks off for artists like me, is just common sense," Fender has commented.

Fender is not the first artist to contribute his honor funds to charitable organizations.

Back when Pulp earned the prize in the mid-90s for their album their work, frontman the singer stated that the act would give their cash to the charity War Child.

In 2002, musician Ms Dynamite divided her award between multiple good causes, like the children's charity and a Sickle Cell charity.

"I also gave a thousand pounds to the center, to their gymnastics class, because I practiced gymnastics when I was younger and they needed better apparatus," she explained to outlets.

Previously, they gave their prize money to the community center that nurtured their group, in addition to other grassroots music organisations.

Also 1994 winners M People contributed their prize to a MS organization after a acquaintance was diagnosed the illness.

"Receiving the award was sufficient," remarked artist the singer. "The prize was the cherry on top but we didn't need the bonus, because we had the cake. So our winning impacted another person's life."

In the past week, the MVT revealed it had saved a couple of grassroots venues in that region, by placing them under public stewardship.

One venue in the city and The Croft in the city were bought under the community ownership scheme, which is backed by a national body and music fans who buy "stakes" in the buildings.
